Mystic Hotel

It is a knightly building, probably built in the second Rhodian architecture of the knighthood, which begins in 1480 and ends in 1522 with the occupation of Rhodes by the Ottomans. The building has elements of Rhodian secular architecture from the 14th century. Its construction material is made of blond porphyry stone and the facade of the building is decorated with tentacles. The main large window of the floor is framed by embossed floral motifs, while the two smaller windows end in a pointed arch. Today the building has been completely restored and operates with great success as a hotel accommodation.
The lighting study, at this stage, had a dual role. First it highlights the architectural and historical value of the building while at the same time it will serve its needs as a hotel. The choice of differentiation-refinement of lighting aims to highlight the mystical character of this hostel and at the same time to identify with the style of the time. The building fits harmoniously into the whole but along with its properly illuminated aspects, a unique lighting effect is achieved. A careful and detailed lighting study was carried out for this building, in order to obtain its final form while maintaining its cubic character. A variety of tools and methods were used in its lighting solution, such as that of the Gestalt theory.
